The Longest Journey Begins with a Single Step

Take a walk through your discipline with your students.
Starting off a blog really is just this easy. If you can compose a letter in Word or create a PowerPoint slide, then you already have 90% of the skills necessary for blogging!

A blog post does not have to be long, complex, or perfectly composed. Mine never are!

Remember the basics to get started:

  1. Don't be intimidated! You will learn by doing.
  2. Keep active! Blogs thrive on being current and fresh.
  3. Steal and cite everything. Web 2.0 means drawing from your peers and crediting them for their work. In most cases, this means much of your content is the work of others.
  4. Contribute! Blogs are a great place to accumulate links or news, but to really blog you should add your own voice. Comment, contrast, criticize... you should always be participating rather than simply observing.
